SM Pro Audio 500

After an extensive research & development program to design and launch a new professional range of products, the 500 Series is here. 500 Series is a new lineup of quality processors and power blocks that provide unprecedented features and pristine audio output. Designed to improve performances in serious home and project studios, 500 Series includes, at the moment, 5 modules: the optical compressor MBC502, the 5-band parametric equalizer PEQ 505, the phase manipulation unit Phase-Box, the high-quality preamp Pre-Z and the valve-based microphone preamplifier TubeBox.

The power blocks are JuiceBlock 3, JuiceRack 1, JuiceRack 3 and JuiceRack 8. The first, JuiceBlock 3, is a portable, stand-alone unit designed to house up to three modules. The others are all rack-mountable and house, respectively, 1, 3 and 8 modules. For each modules available, the PowerBlock unit features balanced and unbalanced i/o on XLR and 1/4" jack connectors.

KRK Rokit G3

KRK Systems released Rokit 5 G3

Available in five-inch, six-inch and eight-inch options, this latest generation is a natural evolution of the company’s design philosophy to deliver natural, balanced spectral response, with low distortion and superior imaging

KRK's ROKIT 5 G3 (Generation 3) powered studio monitors offer professional performance and accuracy for recording, mixing, mastering and playback. The system consists of a 1” soft dome tweeter and 5” glass-Aramid composite woofer. It delivers high frequencies up to 35kHz, vocal clarity and extended bass response. The proprietary bi-amped, class A/B amplifier grants SPL up to 106dB. The ROKIT waveguide is designed to ensure detailed imaging in the listening position. The front-firing bass port reduces boundary coupling to allow flexible positioning in the room while the engineered surface reduces diffraction distortion. Multiple input connections ensure the ROKIT 5 G3 will easily integrate in any system configuration. The new KRK ROKIT G3 lineup ships worldwide on September 1, 2013.

Mackie MRmk3

Mackie has announced new MR studio monitor lineup

The company unveiled MRmk3 nearfield monitors, completely redesigned to match the needs of serious recordist and producers

Mackie has redesigned its bestselling MR lineup of ultra-affordable powered studio monitors. The new MRmk3 Powered Studio Monitors are acoustically optimized at all stages to enhance the mixing, monitoring and multimedia experience in any home or project studio. The MRmk3 line not only fully replaces the previous generation of monitors with the MR5mk3 and MR8mk3, but expands the range with the 6.5” MR6mk3 full-range monitor and MR10Smk3 studio subwoofer. A newly-designed minimum-diffraction waveguide not only provides seamless transition from highs to lows, but also creates a wider sweet spot and an open feel that better connects the user to the music. The power amplifiers and transducers are also custom-matched for increased performance. All MRmk3 cabinets are rear ported, providing added punch and bass extension and packed with acoustic absorption material for the tight sound you expect from a professional studio monitor. A range of I/O options deliver the connection types needed for easy studio integration. There are even customizable acoustic controls to get the exact sound needed for the space. The low frequencies can be boosted by up to 4dB and the highs can be both cut and boosted depending on the user’s needs. The MRmk3 Series also includes the powerful, MR10Smk3 Powered Subwoofer, providing the powerful, deep low end needed for genres like hip-hop and EDM. The low-profile enclosure is rear-ported to provide smooth, even bass and features vibration-absorbing rubber feet to minimize unwanted resonances. Optimizing features include an adjustable crossover to dial in the right amount of low end for the application plus a polarity switch to make sure the mix is always in phase. Adding an MR10Smk3 studio subwoofer to an MRmk3 system not only delivers the added bass modern music demands, it is perfectly matched to MRmk3 studio monitors to enrich a full range mix.

Presonus Sceptre

Featuring an advanced coaxial design that works integrally with a 32-bit, 48 kHz processor using Fulcrum Acoustic's TQ™ Temporal Equalization technology, Sceptre CoActual monitors deliver clarity and coherence that has previously only been available in ultra-high-end systems. Yet they are an affordable investment for project-studio owners—a first for DSP-enabled, TQ-based systems. The series includes two models. The Sceptre S8 CoActual Studio Monitor combines an 8-inch low/mid-frequency driver and a 1-inch (25 mm), horn-loaded, high-frequency transducer into a single coaxial unit with aligned voice coils. The Sceptre S6 CoActual Studio Monitor's coaxial speaker integrates a 6.5-inch low/mid-frequency driver and a 1-inch (25 mm), horn-loaded, high-frequency transducer. Both models have acoustic ports. Sceptre monitors include controls that enable full integration into any studio environment. A four-position Acoustic Space switch controls a second-order shelving filter centered at 100 Hz, with four attenuation settings (no attenuation, -1.5 dB, -3 dB, and -6 dB) so that you can account for the bass response relative to room dimensions and speaker placement.

A High Pass switch sets the 12 dB/octave filter's low-frequency cutoff to linear, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, or 100 Hz. A High-Frequency Driver Adjust switch adjusts the tweeter's overall level to linear (0 dB), +1 dB, -1.5 dB, or -4 dB. The Sensitivity control ranges from +4 dBu to -10 dBV.The systems are biamplified: Each transducer is powered by a 90W RMS, Class D power amp with an internal heat sink. All Sceptre-series monitors have a balanced XLR and ¼-inch TRS line-level inputs with A-taper level control. All Sceptre-series monitors offer RF shielding, current-output limiting, and over-temperature protection and have internal power supplies with IEC connectors and power switches with on/off LEDs. An amplifier "soft start" feature eliminates popping on power-up.PreSonus Sceptre CoActual-series monitors are available immediately, with an anticipated MAP/street price of $749.95 each for the S8 and $649.95 each for the S6..
