Dorico for iPad: a new way for music notation

The new Steinberg app lets you create and edit your music everywhere

Whether you’re a composer, arranger, instrumentalist, teacher, or student, Dorico is a professional app for producing beautiful sheet music that you can share as PDF, M4A, or MusicXML, or print directly to your AirPrint-enabled printer. If you’re already familiar with Dorico for macOS and Windows, Dorico for iPad looks and feels the same, but with many thoughtful tweaks to make an overall experience that’s optimised for touch. If you have a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard, you can input music in step time and real-time: if not, you can use the on-screen piano keyboard to input music.

Dorico is free to use, allowing you to write for ensembles of one or two players (such as solo guitar, voice and piano, etc.). Register with your free Steinberg ID to increase the player limit to four, allowing you to write for ensembles like string or wind quartet, or SATB choir. If you want to take your composition and arranging to the next level, you can buy an optional subscription to unlock more features and power: write for ensembles of any size, and gain access to Engrave mode, allowing you to make graphical tweaks to individual items anywhere in your project.
